I have been listening to a lot of classic soul, funk and dub lately but this blog is all about the newest music. Luckily I have also been listening to some awesome 2008/09 tunes that fit these genres.
For the soul we have Mayer Hawthorn (click below and make sure you listen to "Green Eyed Love" which kicks in at the 13 minute mark)
For the funk, imagine if James Brown was a modern day Japanese man ... it'd probably sound and possibly look something like this
For the dub we have NZ's finest Fat Freddy's Drop with their latest single "Pull The Catch". Quality music. Tasty crayfish.
Andrew Broder the main man behind Fog has made a collection of his music available to us. Enjoy, but remember if you want to "give a motherfucker some money for all this stuff" please paypal any amount you like to: thefog@visi.com
While you're at the Marathon of Dope site check out the other albums available including new material from Pip Skid and Birdapres of the Peanuts & Corn crew.
It has been a while since Fingerprint Records called it a day. Luckily the Fingerprint Crew is still active and they have been nice enough to give us a couple of free releases in the lead up to the highly anticipated Dez & Nobs sophomore release.
I thought I'd throw up some music from my two cities Toronto and Canberra.
Right now I am living in Toronto. This is one from Modulok's forthcoming album. Be sure to check out his current album Two Cities.
The official video for 'Ink Spots' from the new Modulok album 'Cities and Years' produced by Leon Murphy. Directed by Ivan Egorov, shot in St.Petersburg, Russia.
This is my Canberra homey Stu aka Newsense
